FAREWELL TO THE OLD, HELLO TO THE NEW...

PLEASE COPY AND PASTE
http://www.taylorsnw.blogspot.com
to see our NEW BLOG!!

We started this blog two years ago (yep, it's been that long already) to document our adoption journey, and pass the time while waiting for Elysa. It has served it's purpose, and is now a part of her life story. We will be taking this blog down soon.

We wanted a new general family blog that we could post all sorts of stuff on. Photos of our crazy weather, my bike trips, our favorite places, accomplishments, in general- slices of our life for family and friends to keep updated on us, and the Northwest. Of course, Elysa will still be a feature attraction because she is, after all, Elysa.

The new blog is at http://www.taylorsnw.blogspot.com/

On a final note, yes, we would love to adopt from China again... However, our age and the current wait have made that all but out of the question. We find that terribly disheartening because, by all indications, there are still just as many children there in need of homes as there were before. No one is certain why the wait has become so long.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those around the world who are still on this path, and waiting. Know that the entire experience is SO very worth it.

Thanks for sharing in our journey, feel free to stop by the new blog and have a look.

November 11, 2008

It has been a long time since the last post. Life with a two year old is "busy"! For those of you that are still following here's an update on our kiddo.

Let's see....

Running and jumping and hopping everywhere...

Showing us lots of independent spirit...

Talking non-stop, (except of course when meeting others)...

Daring and tough...

She is learning a little Mandarin and Spanish, and is taking a toddler gymnastics class once a week (basically a chance to run and roll around on a big mat).

Above all, she is smart (a little too smart sometimes) and funny.

Here are a few pics from the last few months...

"Let Me See Your War Face!"

"New Friend at the Portland Zoo"

Elly and JoJo "We ain't afraid of snakes!"

"Seriously?"

The perfect pumpkin

"Pastel Pumpkins" by Elysa

"You will give me candy....and not even know I was here...."

A nice fall walk with mom, dad and grandma

Until next time........

Happy Family Day

One year ago on May 08, we met Elly. She has grown so much that we feel it HAS to have been longer than a year.

Referral Day

One year ago today was when we first saw a picture of Elly. Life hasn't been the same since!!!

TIME FLIES WHEN YOUR HAVING FUN!!!

January and February update.......
I can't believe how fast time goes and how much Elysa has grown physically, developmentaly and mentally. She has gone from a little girl who just sat still in one place and played quietly with a toy to one who is running around, chattering non-stop, and talking with English and Mandarin words we have taught her, as well as with gobbly gook that we can't understand... but she sure is trying to get a point across to us. She is such a gem!! She makes us laugh and smile everyday. We are so grateful to have her in our lives and just can't imagine life without her.

From now on I am going to try and post more regularly, as this is all info I am going to use for her lifebook and scrapbook. Since I haven't been posting regularly, I have been reminded by, and surprised at how many people check this site and are interested in our lives with Elysa. For that I am grateful. Please don't hesitate to leave us notes on a post or in the guestbook as all these beautiful comments will be shared with Elysa one day.

We are in the midst of pursuing more info about elysa and her first 10months of life in China through china-babies.com who will help us get as much of a history report as possible by interviewing the orphanage, foster mom, and person who found Elysa with questions they ask and those that we added and wanted asked. We also hope to then establish ongoing contact with the foster mom. Elysa's foster mom will be the best info we can get about Elysa's life before we met her (at least until maybe someday when we could actually make contact with the biological mom and dad). We are really looking forward to getting as much info as possible and doing it now while everyone may be easily found, contacted and talked to.

On with the picts as I know that's why people come here......

Daddy, look at me......taken immediately after finding our little girl shaking the powder bottle all over.....now every time she sees it or even tries to get a hold of it she immediately starts shaking, hmmm, what a fast learner we are...

Our girl loving her books....

Not sure what we were thinking on this outfit...but like we say she could make a paper bag look good...

She loves to do the wheelbarrow walk

Our trendsetter in the making on her own runway...She can put these boots on by herself, so they have become her favorites.

DECEMBER UPDATE!!!

We are so blessed to have Elysa in our lives!!! We THANK AND PRAY FOR BLESSINGS TO BE BROUGHT UPON MANY INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR (China govt, foster mom, and biological parents) for bringing this wonderful blessing to us. She adds so much to our lives and we can't believe how mundane our lives were without her. We only hope and pray we can live up to her expectations as parents. We love you dearly Elysa and we are so grateful you are OUR DAUGHTER!!!

Nothing wrong w/riding my bike in my x-mas best...right mom??

She managed to get into baba's boots all on her own and then put his hat on. She is such a little ham

Jiangxi Sisters' Reunion. It took much less time for them to warm up to each other and they definitely seemed to recognize each other. I got them all Hello Kitty purses for x-mas.

Mom's fav show...and some of the film crew was at the hotel we stayed at in Nanchang in May. Thanks to Marc G. for finding the cool Survivor China buff!!

A WHITE X-MAS, very rare at our house in the Great Northwest!!

Grandkids getting read to by Grandma (aka laulau)

Time for piano lessons? Elysa got up on this bench all on her own, she is quite the climber and loves music. Now, we have to run out and get a piano afer x-mas...hehehe. Not kidding. We did get a little keyboard just haven't gotten it out for her yet.

Loved decorating the cookies and getting messy...but I think mostly enjoyed eating the frosting and the cookies...duh?

Taking puppy for ride in a relaxed mode.....

Burning energy off at Chuckie Cheese....She loves the rides........

I think baba was having more fun on this one....but it was her first ride....
